Welcome to THE ROOKIE Webcomic

You were never actually suppose to see this. 

Scott Sigler and I have been working together for the past several months to put create a series of webcomics from his novels.  Since he lives on the West Coast and I live in the East, we have been using the internet to work on the concept.  At first we just used non-public pages of our personal sites to work, but recently we went ahead and purchased the domain "AddictiveComics.com" and started working here. 

That's when the "cat got out of the bag" so to speak.

A good friend of ours, Kim Caudill (KimCads), decided to "help us out" by spreading the word on several social bookmarking sites before we could stop her.  Another friend we had asked to help with our launch, Tommy Mitchell, took this as a signal to "go" and put up a short video on YouTube and a couple of other video sites.  

We still love Kim and Tommy, but this site ain't ready!

But as the saying goes, it's impossible to get the genie back in the bottle.  So instead of having an "Under Construction" page to piss off anyone who visits, we decided to leave the pages up.

Please look around and get a feel for the site but remember -- what you see are NOT the finished pages (notice there are no backgrounds?)  They are samples for us to work with.  The "finished" pages are laying on my desk beside me -- UNFINISHED!  --  along with the pages from a couple of Scott's other novels.  Hint Hint ;)

The Rookie First Page

Imagine a story that combines the intense football action of "Any Given Sunday" with the space opera style of "Star Wars" and the criminal underworld of "The Godfather."

"The Rookie" is set amongst a lethal pro football league 700 years in the future. Aliens play positions based on physiology, creating receivers that jump 25 feet into the air, linemen that bench-press 1,200 pounds, and linebackers that -- literally -- want to eat you. Organized crime runs every franchise, games are fixed and rival players are assasinated.

Follow the story of Quentin Barnes, a 19-year-old quarterback prodigy that has been raised all his life to hate, and kill, those aliens. Quentin must deal with his racism and learn to lead, or he'll wind up just another stat in the column marked "killed on the field."

Big Plans

This is the opening page of what we hope is a long and enjoyable graphic adaption of The Rookie, but it is also the first graphic novel of what we hope are many more to come.

Look at the address bar. Together Scott and Mark have formed Addictive Comics. You'll notice it isn't "Sigler Comics" or "Hester Comics." It's not even "Podcast Comics." That's because we have bigger plans than that.

(Note - At this time the AddictiveComics.com site points to this sub-site if you try to access it. This is all we have so far folks.)

How to use The Rookie Online Graphic Novel

In the future we will link you directly to the current day's page (as most webcomics do), but for now -- at the bottom of this writing you will see a "Start Here" link. Start there.

That will take you to the opening Chapter One Opening Page. At the bottom of the picture is a menu of the pages available. Click on the First Page. On subsequent visits you can skip to the page you need.

Then after you have read the page one, either click on the page itself (which will take you to the next page in order) or use the red arrows to navigate through the book. If we have coded everything correctly they should take you (in order left to right) Back to the first page of the chapter, Back One Page, Forward One Page and Forward to the Latest Page.

The are only Two Pages of Content at this time.

We plan up updating the Novel with a new page Once per Week at this time.

Now, we know, everyone says that they want your feedback and advice. But most of you know either Scott or Mark or both of us and you know that we really mean it. We listen to you because you are why we do this.
