Comments on Page 6 and the New Advertising Video

Please let us know what you think about Black Jack Justice Page 6 here.

Also if you would like to make a comment on the Black Jack Justice VIDEO in the previous post you can do it here.  (if you came here directly from the comic CLICK HERE to view the previous post. Opens in new page.)

You may note that the comments are turned “off” on the video post.  That wasn’t because we didn’t want to hear from you .  We would love to hear what you think and any ideas you may have to make it better and how we can do more.

The problem is that Wordpress is horribly flakey where videos are concerned.  Each time you “Edit” a post (which is how we respond to your comments) you run the risk of the video screwing up.  It happens almost everytime.

Skip this next part if programming bores you. (Head down to “New Videos”)

Maybe someone out there can help.  Here’s what happens –

Put the post up once and the video is fine (as you can hopefully see — please let me know IMMEDIATELY if it isn’t working for you.  It’s fine on my screen) as long as I don’t touch the post.  But as soon as I open the post to edit anything, half the program code for the video disappears.  It’s gone when I open it.  Like it wasn’t there.  Instead of the 6 to 8 lines I put in originally, there are about 3 lines that don’t make sense — or work.

I have to go to YouTube and resave the code.  Post it, save and leave very carefully.  Then it’s fine again – until the next time I click edit.

On some of my other blogs I have had vids that stay for months, working perfectly.  But try and edit anywhere in the post and BAM!, 1/2 the lines of video code are just gone.

New Videos

Anyway, we have this video for BJJ and a similar one for The Rookie, finished and ready to post on some of the video sharing sites.  The one below is only on YouTube and here right now and The Rookie isn’t posted at all.

We’ll monitor the results and, if they are getting us some good results (more readers!), we’ll probably do some more of them.  So far it looks promising — there have been 42 views in a little under 12 hours.  Not bad.

If and when we do, we’ll post them here or maybe at the bottom of the comic pages, which have no problem with vids.

So please let us know what you think and any ideas you have for more vids and any other “get the word out” activities.

We do thank you.

Mark, Scott, Gregg and Sami

I am already pimping it out to my “imaginary friends” - I think it is a great idea!

Mark @ 8:43 am

Night,

Thanks — Imaginary Friends LOL.

I really hope these Slide Show Vids can do the job. We’re doing okay but naturally we want as many readers as possible.

And these are Drop Dead easy to do. 20 minutes tops on Power Point (actually free Open Office — I ain’t Rock-a-feller) then a Slide Show maker.

The real results — if we’re gonna get any — will come when I send it out to 35+ vid sites and 20+ Social Sites I have profiles on.

We’ll see.

Good to hear from you.

Catch ya later,

Mark

Gregg @ 9:07 am

It’s classy and pretty and I likes it a lot! Who’s doing the music on the video Mark?

New page is gorgeous… haven’t seen it since the pencils, but the flow is lovely. That tight shot of the eyes, pulling all the way out to the last panel outside the office. The variety of motion Sami gives to a scene that is actually three people talking in an office is astounding.

Mark @ 9:18 am

Thanks Gregg.

I would love to say the Outside Shot was my idea — but it wasn’t. It was all Sami.

For those of you interested — the beautiful music on the Slide Show is by the brilliant Robin Stine.

Find the whole album at http://www.robinstine.com/

Should have given her a shout out in the post. The info is on the vid (slide 3) but it’s a little hard to read.

If you love smokey jazz, you will love he debut album. Check out “Never Say Goodbye.” Beautiful.

Mark

Denis @ 11:35 am

It’s neat seeing the outdoor shot at the bottom of the page.

I do like Jazz, I’ll check out Robin’s webpage and her music.

I went and bought her album after watching your vid! (I caught the info on slide 3).

Excellent.
